What does the association do?
The aim of the “DMXControl Projects” association is to explain the necessary technical basics for newcomers to computer-controlled light and multimedia shows and to provide them with the appropriate tools. It primarily addresses technophilic people who want to use DMX technology for private parties, school discotheques, amateur theater performances and non-professional applications.
The focus of the association's work is the further development of the software DMXControl as freeware as well as accompanying tools with the help of our association members. The activities are extended to include the presentation and development of electronic aids. The third pillar of the work is the organization of shows and the transfer of know-how in the preparation and realization of amateur light shows. An important aspect of the work is also to make users aware of the limits of amateur work and to publish the necessary safety regulations to protect users from harm. All tools and information are provided free of charge.
The association provides a (web) platform for the education and exchange of experience of the target audience on the subject of lighting control in the non-professional sector (primarily using DMXControl), so that e.g. hobby DJs and amateur lighting technicians can exchange knowledge and show their projects.
Who are we?
It all started with the first DMXControl version, written by Stefan Krupop. We are now a team of 25 club members who actively shape the work of the association and thus support amateur lighting technicians in the realization of their projects. Like in other online projects, all members of the association live in different parts of Germany. Therefore, we use different ways of communication such as our forum and weekly virtual meetings for the organizational planning of our association activities.
Each member makes an individual contribution to the various working groups that take care of different areas of the association's work. For example, there are teams for development, marketing, documentation and IT infrastructure. The association also sees itself as an “umbrella organization” for other Internet projects in the same area, with whose creators we are in regular contact. How does our internal work look like?
The highlight of our associational life is our annual club meeting lasting several days, where many new concepts are forged and implemented and where we can often welcome interesting guests. Our regular work includes a weekly virtual meeting via the Internet, as the core team members are spread all over Germany. Operational topics are discussed at these meetings. The prerequisite for membership of the core team is that you have acquired membership of the association and are prepared to donate a certain amount of time on a regular basis to the work of the association.
